{"id":4081,"date":"2009-12-19T01:16:31","date_gmt":"2009-12-19T06:16:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.videoproductiontips.com\/?p=4081"},"modified":"2023-09-05T16:12:13","modified_gmt":"2023-09-05T21:12:13","slug":"the-greatest-christmas-video-ever","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.videoproductiontips.com\/the-greatest-christmas-video-ever\/","title":{"rendered":"The Greatest Christmas Video Ever!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/TVdcQWpyfKs\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">?<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Original High School Production, An Enchanting Holiday.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Would you enjoy seeing a spectacular high school video production?\u00a0 Take a break to enjoy <strong><em>An Enchanting Holiday,<\/em><\/strong> posted above, a delightful 10-minute Christmas video created by my advanced video production students.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This is one of my favorite video projects of all time.<\/strong>\u00a0 And since I made a million-bazillion, that&#8217;s saying a lot.<\/p>\n<p>It was a ball to make, and the finished product wowed people.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I had the opportunity to stand at the back of the room and observe several large crowds view this video, which is the best way to gauge audience reaction, of course.\u00a0 It can be very nerve racking since for all you know they&#8217;ll hate it, and this video went out on several limbs.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I was always so gratified to see people laugh throughout the video and then cheer at the ending.<\/p>\n<p>We made <em><strong>Enchanting Holiday<\/strong><\/em> several years ago when I was working as a high school video production teacher in a rural Tennessee high school.\u00a0 It was a massive undertaking for this small class of 9 kids.\u00a0 We spent about 3 months planning, creating and producing this ten-minute video.\u00a0 It was their third year taking video production, so they were way past the basics.<\/p>\n<p>As a group, we came up with all kinds of original characters, costumes, settings and story lines.\u00a0 \u00a0I stretched their imaginations to infinity and beyond by asking questions about why characters wanted to do what they did.<\/p>\n<p>Making this video was tons of fun and a fantastic experience for the kids because each one contributed something unique straight from the heart.<\/p>\n<p>Much to my surprise, <em>Enchanting Holiday<\/em> ended up winning about twenty regional and national awards, including a high school Emmy.\u00a0 We won a free trip to New York City and got on the local TV news.\u00a0 Even the school board and county commission gave us all medals!\u00a0 It was an amazing experience.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-18964 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.videoproductiontips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/emmy20NY-scaled.jpg?resize=488%2C366&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"win emmy\" width=\"488\" height=\"366\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.videoproductiontips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/emmy20NY-scaled.jpg?w=2560&amp;ssl=1 2560w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.videoproductiontips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/emmy20NY-scaled.jpg?resize=300%2C225&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.videoproductiontips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/emmy20NY-scaled.jpg?resize=1024%2C768&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.videoproductiontips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/emmy20NY-scaled.jpg?resize=150%2C113&amp;ssl=1 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.videoproductiontips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/emmy20NY-scaled.jpg?resize=1536%2C1152&amp;ssl=1 1536w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.videoproductiontips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/emmy20NY-scaled.jpg?resize=2048%2C1536&amp;ssl=1 2048w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.videoproductiontips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/emmy20NY-scaled.jpg?resize=600%2C450&amp;ssl=1 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 488px) 100vw, 488px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Here we are at the Emmy Banquet in NYC. Two of my students, their parents, and I won free trips courtesy of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, NATAS, the group that sponsors the Emmy Awards and this high school version.\u00a0 Students Branden Anderson and Chloe Blom (and several others) worked magic in this video and deserved the accolades.\u00a0 I never wore the dress a second time.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>You never know which projects are going to take off and achieve extreme success.\u00a0\u00a0 Honestly, when we were working on <em><strong>Enchanting Holiday<\/strong><\/em>, I wondered if we&#8217;d EVER get it to come together.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sometimes it seemed like nothing but a big fat mess of crazy ideas.\u00a0 But we kept at it, evolving the project, adding layers and improving the overall story.\u00a0 In the end, it worked!<\/p>\n<p>No project comes together with one idea or thought.\u00a0 Good stories build a solid foundation using multiple ideas.\u00a0 One idea can lead to another, then another.\u00a0 This is how you build a complex story audiences will enjoy, one idea at a time.<\/p>\n<p>Audiences cheered at the end when we tied the story all up with a bow, using a technique call <strong>&#8220;coming full circle.&#8221;<\/strong>\u00a0 Coming full circles means you put something at the end that is relevant to something at the very beginning.\u00a0 In the case of Enchanting Holiday, we had several loose strings to tie up, and all of them came together at the very end.<\/p>\n<p>Never give up!\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>Thanks for reading Video Production Tips.\u00a0\u00a0 Merry Christmas and happy video making.<\/p>\n<p><strong>FOOD FOR THOUGHT<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How long did it take the students to make this 10-minute video?<\/li>\n<li>What does it mean when your story comes full circle?<\/li>\n<li>Did you enjoy watching the video Enchanting Holiday?\u00a0 Why or why not?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Want a fun Christmas treat that won&#8217;t pack on the pounds?
